It really should be a no-brainer at this point what with services life Uber and Lyft stealing their chunk of your market (especially if your limo business does airport runs and corporate ground travel), but we’ll say it anyway: mobile matters. In fact, it matters so much that we’ll go on record stating that if your limo company hasn’t done these three things with mobile some time in 2016, it could spell huge trouble for your business. So what could possibly be that crucial? Read on and find out…


#1: You need a responsive limo website.


These days, this is non-negotiable. Your limo website has to look right on every conceivable device, especially phones. Have a look at your site layout. If some of your buttons and links look small on a laptop, it means they’re invisible on a phone. If your site doesn’t translate well to a mobile platform where the concept of tapping is rapidly replacing the concept of clicking, it’s time to hire a good web designer and get your site looking legit across platforms.


Believe us when we tell you that no one is going to scroll across a tiny smartphone screen to view half a car. It’s equally annoying on a tablet. Create a new site that formats your visuals for easy consumption and displays your text in a way that is readable and easy to navigate.


#2. You need a proprietary app.


Yes, there are apps out there that connect seamlessly between dispatch, the passenger, and anyone else in the company who needs real-time access. But here’s the problem with all of them: None of them are brand-able, and none of them look like your business. You need something that you can put up on your website that looks like you, so that when your clients download it, they can find it quickly and feel comfortable interacting with it.


The best limo apps have several key features:


  • Real-time vehicle tracking via GPS
  • Direct access to dispatch or customer service via text or chat
  • Documented information about the vehicle and a photo ID of the driver. Be sure that yours has them too!


#3. You need to keep up with both.


Technology changes rapidly, and any sign of obsolescence is going to work against you. It is important to review your site and your app regularly to ensure that they are keeping up with the times in terms of usability and functionality. If something doesn’t seem right, bring it up to your developer immediately and do your best to ensure against downtime, especially on your app.


While we can’t guarantee that these things will bring you success, we can all but guarantee that it’ll be difficult to remain profitable in 2016 without them. With that in mind, we urge you to look into both, assess the costs involved, and decide if the investment is worth it. We think you’ll find the cost of not having a good, responsive site and proprietary app more costly in the long run.
